iPhone App Maker Gets Hit With Cease and Desist

I’m a big baseball fan but this is the type of thing Major League Baseball does that drives me crazy.

On Monday Michigan’s Mark Knopper, owner and sole employee of Bulbous Ventures, received an email from MLB Advanced Media demanding that he remove baseball team logos from his program along with a nearly imperceptible MLB logo used on the application program shortcut. MLB Advanced Media also expressed concern people might wrongfully assume his program was an official MLB iPhone App. MLB also made available its own iPhone app on last week, MLB.com At Bat ($5).

Mac vs. PC

We’ve all seen the Mac vs. PC ads on TV and the Internet portraying the superiority of the Mac’s hardware and software.  Believe it or not, many people believe that these skewed commercials actually reflect reality.  I for one, thoroughly enjoy the hilarity of them… at least until it hits me that the reason Apple continues to make more is because they’re working.

This picture illustrates the tone of the commercials perfectly.

Disable Firefox 3’s Awesome Bar

I’m not disabling it yet… I’m going to give it a couple days to see if it grows on me.  However, many users are already sure they’re not happy with the new awesome bar implementation.  So, CNET shows us all how to disable it.  Or, you can go with the Lifehacker method and install a Firefox extension Oldbar.

Mozilla Firefox goes for World Record tomorrow

Guinness World Record

Tuesday, June 17th is Download Day 2008 as proclaimed by Mozilla. They are trying to set a new World Record for the most downloaded software in a 24 hour period with their release of Firefox 3.

All you have to do is get Firefox 3 during Download Day to help set the record for most software downloads in 24 hours – it’s that easy. We’re not asking you to swallow a sword or to balance 30 spoons on your face, although that would be kind of awesome.

Do your part, click the logo below.

SlideRocket Rocks!

No more death by PowerPoint… SlideRocket is taking the presentation slideshow to a whole new level. The initial launch is a web only software as a service product with plans to have a full offline client in a year. This demo from their website and this one from Robert Scoble show SlideRocket pulling in images from Flickr, searching a quote database, displaying flash slide backgrounds, and giving the author the ability to share the slideshow with specific users and ensuring that it doesn’t fall into the hands of competitors or leak to the media. SlideRocket allows you to more quickly author and design much richer slideshows than Keynote or PowerPoint have ever imagined.

Take the time to view the demo video. Though still in private beta SlideRocket will launch to the public soon as a free or paid service.
